Why Muddy York really needs your help?
For over 10 years Toronto Muddy York has provided a friendly and supportive environment for young gay men to learn how to play the game of rugby. Over those 10 years we are extremely proud to have helped these men to embrace their sexuality and be proud of their diversity. It really is astonishing how playing rugby has empowered many of these men and aspired them to achieve their best potential.
The Bingham Cup in Sydney, Australia in 2014 will be an opportunity to inspire our young team members to push even harder and achieve more. Unfortunately many of them do not have the finances available to travel to Sydney and participate in the sport that they love. This is where we are asking for help with a financial donation.
What’s so special about the Bingham Cup…
Founded in 2002, The Bingham Cup is an international rugby tournament that highlights the problems of homophobia in sport and helps dispel stereotypes about gay men. It was named in honour of Mark Bingham, a gay man and avid rugby player, who helped wrestle flight UA 93 from the terrorists on 9/11.
The Bingham Cup in 2014 provides a fantastic opportunity for young gay rugby players to compete against one another in a safe and supportive environment. Sydney, Australia will host the Bingham Cup in 2014 and more than 1500 players, from over 35 teams, from every corner of the world are expected to attend. With your help Muddy York will be of those teams there in Sydney representing Toronto, Canada and you!
